I had an acute awareness that everything in my world was out of my control: my postpartum body was collapsing, my husband was back at work and carrying the full load of our other children, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills were waiting to be paid. I longed for the peace of God. Longed for the presence of Jesus in the midst of tremendous grief. As my mental state frayed, I cried out for Him to rescue me. And there, I found Emmanuel, the man of many sorrows and well acquainted with grief, holding everything together by the word of His power.
